Cheer up.

One of the biggest misconceptions people have is this:

They think that abilities that emerge easily and quickly out of luck are “talent,”

while those that appear later and through difficulty are the result of “effort.”
But in reality, without talent, you can’t succeed—even later.

What’s truly great about those who succeed late is that they trusted their own judgment
and had the courage to take on the challenge.

— So, can’t effort beat talent?
— I don’t think it can.
But no one knows *when* a talent will manifest.

— Isn’t that the same thing, though?
Sounds like a wordplay.
— The only choice we have is to keep trying and putting in the effort.

— So I failed because I lacked talent, right?
— I told you, no one knows when talent will reveal itself.

What’s important is:

It wasn’t because you didn’t try hard enough.
You truly gave it your all.
